What a surprise The Perfect Wife by Blake Pierce turned out! This thriller was suspenseful from the onset. The many twists and subplots kept me guessing right to the end.

This is the first book in the Jessie Hunt psychological suspense series and I am ready to jump into the next. The plot is tight and moves quickly. Jessica’s character evolves as she tries to get her degree in criminal profiling, to interview a serial murderer, to discover what is really happening in the town she and her husband have just moved into, and to confront her dark past.

The book is excellent but it lost one star in my opinion because Jessie Hunt is characterized at times at the “perfect wife” who “put[s] up with their husband’s indiscretions because they didn’t have the financial freedom to say no. Women with dreams shelved them to satisfy the demands of self-involved spouses.” Fortunately, Jessie awakens in time to stop her husband’s machinations. If you can look beyond this flaw to when Jessie finally smartens up, I think you will enjoy The Perfect Wife.
