Lately I have been studying about marketing and publishing the book. I have attended webinars and forums hoping to understand social media as a marketing tool. From these, I have a plethora of information about defining the audience, using and developing alluring words, and interacting with the reader. If I were to try to implement all of the suggestions made in these courses, there would be little time for writing. I have concluded that, for the next several weeks, I will finish the book. I then will use the Social Media Made Simple 30 Day Action Guide, by Christine Gallagher as a basis for incorporating techniques learned in these webinars.
Last week I spent a day revising the FaceBook page to the new timeline format. Check out the new look of Women of the Way. I hope you enjoy it and please “like” the page. This week I am attending an online list building summit and I hope to incorporate those changes into Facebook as well; so please check back next week.
I hope to be formatting the book by the end of the month. This entails preparing the content for both paper and electronic delivery. To publish the print version, I am considering CreateSpace. It comes highly recommended and seems straightforward.
What is the best way and easiest way me as an independent writer to prepare the content for self-publishing an ebook? There are many tools and options. For this reason I found A Quick Guide for Self-Publishers Worried About eBook Formats by BubbleCow useful and informative. I will look at the WordPress converter as well as the ones for Smashwords and Kindle Direct Publishing.
The industry tools are constantly changing. What this means is that the tools I use to publish this book may not be the tools I use to publish the next. Keeping up to date on tools is a necessity for the independent writer/self-publisher. I guess I have my work cut out.
