In Chasing Himalayan Dreams, Susan Jagannath relates with heart-warming detail how after forty years she realizes her childhood dream of climbing “the towering Kanchenjunga and the Sleeping Buddha nestled in a snow-white blanket against brilliant blue skies, where the stain of pollution is blown away by wild Himalayan winds.”

Ms. Jagannath’s story was my introduction to The Singalilla trek. I loved her detailed and vivid descriptions of the food, the tea, the clothing, the colors, and the smells. Though I never desired to hike in India, Nepal, and Tibet, I felt as if I were there on the trail with the author.

As an older hiker, this book reminded me that I should not let age be a deterrent to chasing my dream and for this, I am grateful to the author.
