In her memoir, Becoming, Michelle Obama speaks directly to the reader as she relates how she became who she is. Stressing on the importance of family, education, and giving back to society, she tells us about her formative childhood years in South Side Chicago, her years working for a prestigious law firm, meeting her husband, balancing a career while raising children. She talks about her adjustments to being a politician’s wife and then The First Lady. What impressed me the most was her love for her family, her compassion for others, and her efforts to inspire the upcoming generations.
Listening to the author read the audiobook, I could feel her warmth and honesty. I enjoyed her wit, her worries, and her sorrows. I highly recommend Becoming.
