After reading, Operation Hail Storm by Brett Arquette I was terrified knowing that with the upcoming technological advances in drones and robotics no one would be safe.

Though there are a lot of technical details, the story flows well. In the first part, Marshall Hall uses the robotics and drones to kill a North Korean who is on the Most Wanted List. When he goes to the collect the ransom for killing Kim Young Chang, Marshall Hail barters with the CIA to get info on other most-wanted persons. As it turns out, Marshall Hail lost his wife and twin daughters in attacks on airplanes known as The Five. He is seeking retribution from the world leaders responsible for the attacks. The CIA agrees to do this only if Hail takes an operative with him, Kara. They name the operation Hail Storm.

Until The Five, Marshall Hail had made billions converting nuclear waste into power for the impoverished. After The Five, he converted his fleet of cargo ships into drone-making facilities and worships. In spite of this, Marshall Hail is humane. He hires people left abandoned by The Five and rehabilitates them, giving them education and work. His ships include on-land type amenities: a mall, a cinema, restaurants, a gym, etc.

I thought that the detailed descriptions of the technology were distracting. For this reason, I would not call this story a cliff-hanger but there is sufficient suspense, well-developed characters, and new and plausible technology to make the book satisfying.
