The psychological thriller, Girl in Trouble by Stacy Claflin is book 1 in the Alex Mercer series. It is the story of a kidnapped tween and the struggle the father has to save his daughter. It is a story about forgiveness, trying to change the past, and the ugly side of social media that makes it easy for people to prejudge and blame others.

The writing is engaging, the story is quick-paced. I loved the father-daughter interaction, the way Ari struggles to escape her captor, and how Alex pieces together the information leading to his daughter’s rescue. I had trouble believing the FBI’s lack of involvement, the chief’s asking Alex to help research cold cases, and the scene with the dust.

If you read to be entertained without giving much thought, you might enjoy Girl in Trouble.
