Fallen is book 5 in the “Private Investigator Series of Crime and Suspense Thriller” by Nick Stephenson. Leopold Blake takes a back seat to Mary Jordan who seems to be the stronger character in this story. Presumed for dead, Leopold goes into hiding and is at the mercy of others as he tries to figure out who and why he was targeted. Mary takes the lead in the investigation as she works against time to stop the terrorist attack on NYC.
Mr. Stephenson is becoming a great storyteller. Fallen is more cohesive and better developed than some of the previous books in this series (though I recommend using a technical editor to catch the more obvious errors). My kudos to him as he creates an intriguing web. It’s fun to see the story untangle.
The tension of almost having been killed and the resulting separation moves the relationship between Leopold and Mary forward. At last. I’m looking forward to seeing if this relation continues in the next story.
If you are a fan of Leopold Blake, you’ll like this story.
