I loved the unusual coming-of-age sci-fi Vita Aeterna by Jay Allan Storey. From the first page, the story was exciting and tense as Alex Barret cam surfs through “the Quarters,” where he lives. He and his friends are approaching their 16th birthday and are nervous about the Appraisal, a medical test that determines their life span.
After Alex’s Appraisal, he awakens a prisoner and is not told the results of the test. With the help of another prisoner, he escapes and then discovers that the world thinks he is dead.
On the lam, Alex discovers clues that lead him to understand his importance and why the army and others are after him. Who can he trust?
Vita Aeterna is a captivating tale, one I recommend you read, especially if you enjoy fast-paced action, an exciting plot, and a well-told story.
