I found Parallel Worlds: Equilibrium in Threat by A.I. Zlato difficult to read and understand. I am not sure if my incomprehension is due to the metaphysical concepts, the names, the Kandron’s way of talking in circles, or the tedious storyline repetitions. The ending was disappointing. I was unsure if the problems were resolved or if the world ended.

Some of the subplots and characters were interesting. I liked the exchanges between Paul, the researcher, and Edgard, the Kandron, a birdlike creature whose timeline runs opposite to that of the rest of the world. I also liked Isis, the rebellious teenager, her mother Baley, and the group building the spaceship. Unfortunately, the book ends without resolving what happens to these characters.

Perhaps, this is because Parallel Worlds: Equilibrium in Threat is the first in the metaphysical saga. I, though, do not care to continue reading the series.
