Imagine how horrifying it would be to get an email from your dead sister on the day of her burial asking you to protect her son from Theo and bring him to justice for the murder of his first wife. Where would you start? Whom could you trust? Dierdre, heartbroken by the sudden death of Caroline, realizes that she never knew her sister or her problems. Determined to save 3-yr-old Teddy from Theo, she sets out to prove that Caro’s death was a murder, most likely orchestrated by Theo. But her premises are all wrong.

I loved the story’s convoluted plot and the many red herrings. The characters are imperfect and must learn to rely on their wits and face the past before understanding the present.

Alternating between Dierdre’s and Theo’s point of view, the reader uncovers dark family secrets and slowly understands how evil and controlling the culprit is.

If you like suspenseful mysteries, I recommend Her Last Breath. Plan to read it in one sitting; you won’t be able to put it down.
