Writing Women of the Way is extending my Camino experience

I am starting the new year without a resolution; I don’t believe in them since they have not been helpful to me in the past. I am carrying over goals from last year, goals that resulted from my walking 500 miles in Spain on the path known as the Camino de Santiago.

Some if these goals are lofty: live the fullest in the present, stay alert and on my chosen path, laugh every day. Other goals are more pragmatic: write the story about my pilgrimage and that of the women I met along the way, release the book by spring 2012, and learn to market and promote the book once released.

To this effort, I have transcribed about 30 interviews and am awaiting approval from the interviewees. I have scheduled several other interviews and am looking forward to speaking with these “pilgrims”.  I am starting to weave my story with theirs.

There is much work left. Fortunately, it does not feel like work. As I read my journal, look at pictures or listen to a recorded conversation, I am back on the Camino. Writing this book is extending my “Camino Experience” which I hope to share with my readers.
