Pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago are eclectic, differing in nationality, religion, and age. A Senior Citizen Walks the Camino de Santiago depicts Jack Quinn’s walk as a septuagenarian. Though the author celebrates his 73rd birthday on the trail, the book appeals to anyone of any age.

In the first part, Mr. Quinn talks about the Camino, his reason for doing it, and how he prepared for it. The remainder of the book is a copy of his daily blog entries. These are written with wit and knowledge of history and are entertaining and informative.

Though the author states that age should not be a limiting factor to walking the Camino, this book is not a manual for senior citizens who wish to do so, unless it is by inspiration. It is the author’s story and does not delve into age-specific topics.

From “Look inside” the book, the pictures are excellent. Unfortunately, they were very dark on my black and white screen. To enjoy the beauty of the Camino, I suggest reading this on a color display.

I recommend this book to those who are planning to hike the Camino and those who which to relive their pilgrimage.
