Wrong Place, Wrong Time: A True Story by David P. Perlmutter relates the events in a 27-year-old Englishman’s life as he makes one bad decision after another. After loosing his job for drunken driving, Dave decides to travel to Marbella, Spain, to get away from all the shame and to add excitement to his life.
Once in Marbella, Dave spends money foolishly, finds work as a roadie with a pub singer, Kevin and his brother, Anthony. When Kevin because jealous of Dave’s interaction with his girlfriend, things turn badly for Dave. Henceforth, as Dave’s situation rapidly worsens, I could not keep the pages turning quickly enough to see the final outcome.
David P. Perlmutter’s account of this part of his life is very suspenseful. The story, written in first person, appears painfully truthful; the reader feels Dave’s remorse, lonesomeness, and fear. If you have ever done something you regretted, you will find this story a good read. You will marvel at the compassion Dave’s family has for this prodigal child/sibling. I enjoyed this story and recommend it.
